CAPE TOWN

Welcome to the most beautiful city in the world (in my opinion) & where I call my “spirit city”! Fall in love with Cape Town’s breathtaking landscapes, vibrant energy, amazing food & wine, and endless activities. Spend your time relaxing on the beach, strolling the promenade, hiking a mountain, shopping for handcrafted African goods, sipping a cocktail at a vibey restaurant, taking the cable car up Table Mountain (one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World), or simply soaking in the iconic views from your hotel. Cape Town is, quite simply, MAGIC.

WATERBUCK LODGE

Where every moment is a celebration of nature's grandeur and untamed beauty.

LOCATION

Thornybush Game Reserve

Waterbuck Lodge boasts an excellent location for safari-goers in search of the Big Five. The lodge occupies a prime spot in the prestigious 14 500 hectare Thornybush Private Nature Reserve within the Greater Kruger National Park, near Hoedspruit. The open savannah and mixed woodland habitat that forms much of the reserve is a haven of animal activity surrounded by a water estuary and numerous waterholes.

PROPERTY OVERVIEW

Waterbuck Lodge is a charming and tranquil choice for nature lovers, surrounded by a lush wetland within the Thornybush Private Nature Reserve’s bushveld environment. The lodge offers grandstand views of passing wildlife drawn to its perennially green surroundings and accommodates just eight guests, making it a popular choice for small groups, couples, and solo travellers alike.

Extreme privacy, superb facilities, and personalised attention ensure every guest enjoys a comfortable and relaxing stay, interspersed with exciting animal encounters. Communal areas include an informal lounge and dining area where guests spend many happy hours exchanging stories over refreshing drinks and expertly prepared meals. An elevated outdoor deck offers excellent views over the nearby waterhole with its many furred and feathered visitors and the secluded swimming pool is a welcome indulgence on hot summer days, with its cool waters, green lawns, and comfy sun loungers. When evening falls, glimmering lanterns lead the way to a traditional African boma for fireside dining against a backdrop of the bush chorus.

Waterbuck Lodge offers a supremely relaxed, home away from home vibe and welcomes children of all ages. It’s an excellent choice for an exclusive use booking with friends and family.

SUITES

Perfectly sized for two, each of the four suites at Waterbuck Lodge features a king-size or twin beds flanked by floor-to-ceiling windows, a separate dressing room and a spacious en-suite bathroom with modern fittings and a bath with a view.

Arathusa Safari Lodge

LOCATION

As part of the Sabi Sand Reserve and greater Kruger National Park, Arathusa is located in one of the world’s most abundant natural wilderness areas where hundreds of animal species roam free.

Including the much acclaimed Big Five (lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo – the five most dangerous animal species to be hunted on foot). Leopards, in specific, are abundant in this region with perhaps the globe’s highest population. Arathusa prides itself on its leopard viewing. As these elusive cats are territorial, their regular appearance in the area enables us to plot their movements, and to observe their behaviour. Many of the animals become familiar and are easily recognised. Approximately 14 leopards are seen in the area in which Arathusa operates, six of which are seen on a regular basis.

There are also a number of different lion prides in the area, as well as a few nomadic males. Over 90% of guests will experience sightings of The Big Five – very often in one day, and sometimes on one drive! General “lowveld” game species are abundant in this section of the Sabi Sand Reserve, including giraffe, zebra, warthog, impala, and more.

PROPERTY OVERVIEW

Arathusa is an intimate environment and its open-plan design and natural décor means that it blends seamlessly with the African bush surroundings. The main living area is intended for comfort. Whether quietly reflecting on the view, reading a good book, or enjoying conversation with friends or fellow safari goers, the warmth and charm of the lodge environment is the foundation of the Arathusa safari experience.

The infinity swimming pool overlooks the waterhole, and is the perfect spot for wildlife viewing while cooling off on a warm African afternoon.

Facilities include two open-air lounges (one with a fireplace), bar, wine cellar, dining area, safari spa and curio shop.

SUITES

Arathusa hosts a selection of Water-facing and Bush-facing suites.

Each Suite is uniquely designed, with fresh interiors and a focus on light and space. Each has a bathroom en-suite, with shower, as well as a private outdoor shower and veranda. Amenities include a mini bar (stocked with a selection of beverages on request), an electronic safe, hairdryer, air conditioning, direct-dial telephone, mosquito net and tea/ coffee making facilities.

In keeping with the traditional natural safari experience, there are no televisions in the Suites at Arathusa. Guests are, however, able to connect to Wi-Fi in the bar/lounge areas with our compliments.
