SAFARI IN THE TRUE AFRICAN WILD
An incredible, intimate, authentic experience with the most stunning wildlife on the planet in their natural habitat. You'll enjoy ultimate comfort in the bush, with all meals included, along with coffee stops and sundowners under the expert care of your skilled and knowledgeable guides. Take a moment to appreciate the little things — the scents of the bush, the sounds of birds chirping, the morning breeze on your skin, the crackling fire at night, and the brightest stars twinkling above.
Witness animals as they interact, hunt, and survive, in their most wild form, just as nature intended. Enjoy morning and evening game drives where you will have a great chance of seeing lions, elephants, giraffes, rhinos, hippos, antelope, buffalo, zebras, maybe even leopards, wild dogs, cheetahs if you are lucky… there is no telling what you’ll see on safari — Mama Africa always has surprises in store!
SAFARI OPTIONS
I’ve searched across your flexible August dates and found some really lovely ways to combine two safari lodges over 6–7 nights. Each option pairs two different private reserves in the Greater Kruger, so you get a change of scenery (and new animal neighbours) halfway through. August is the heart of the dry season, with thinner bush and animals gathering at the water, so it’s some of the best game viewing of the year! 🐘
Each total below includes an approximate estimate for road transfers. Once we know which airport you’d like to fly into and out of (and your flight times), I’ll get final transfer quotes, so the numbers may shift slightly. I wanted to get this over to you ASAP so you can have a look at the options!
Availability can change quickly, so have a look through the options below and let me know which one feels like the best fit. Once you’ve decided, I’ll get it secured for you!
Each option includes:
6 nights’ accommodation for 2 guests sharing (3 nights at each lodge)
Morning & afternoon game drives throughout your stay
All meals, tea, coffee & drinking water
Conservation levies & reserve fees
Approximate road transfers to and from the nearest airports, including gate fees: Skukuza or Nelspruit (KMIA) for Umkumbe, and Hoedspruit (HDS) for all the other lodges (final quotes once your flights are booked)
OPTION 1: Umkumbe Bush Lodge + Honeyguide Khoka Moya
📍 Sabi Sand + Manyeleti Game Reserve
My top pick for you! Umkumbe Bush Lodge is a lively little bush camp and one of the best bangs for your buck in the iconic Sabi Sand. The area is particularly renowned for leopard sightings, and Umkumbe has a relaxed, authentic safari feel (plus a bush gym!). You’ll be staying in one of their Luxury Tents.
From there, you’ll head north to Honeyguide Khoka Moya in the Manyeleti, a quieter, wilder reserve with very few vehicles that’s unfenced with the Kruger. It’s a lovely contrast to the Sabi Sand and a great way to round out your safari.
Availability:
Umkumbe Bush Lodge: 8–11 August 2027 (Luxury Tent, currently on hold for you)
Honeyguide Khoka Moya: 11–14 August 2027
Your 6-night safari
2 guests sharing: approx. R56,115 per person (R112,230 total)
Includes approx. R14,350 for road transfers (estimate): fly into Skukuza or Nelspruit, out of Hoedspruit
Want a 7th night? Add a 4th night at Khoka Moya (11–15 August) for an extra R15,000
OPTION 2: Honeyguide Mantobeni + Shindzela Tented Camp
📍 Manyeleti Game Reserve + Timbavati Private Nature Reserve
Great value, and under your budget including transfers! Two intimate tented camps in the northern reserves, a short drive apart. You’ll begin with classic safari tents at Honeyguide Mantobeni in the Manyeleti, then move to Shindzela, a small, rustic-chic tented camp in the Timbavati.
Availability:
Honeyguide Mantobeni: 10–13 August 2027
Shindzela: 13–16 August 2027 (only one tent left on these dates, so this one could go quickly!)
Your 6-night safari
2 guests sharing: approx. R48,567 per person (R97,134 total)
Includes approx. R7,900 for road transfers (estimate): fly in and out of Hoedspruit
Want a 7th night? Shindzela has a 4-night special (13–17 August), bringing the total to approx. R108,856
OPTION 3: Elephant Plains Game Lodge + Umlani Bush Camp
📍 Sabi Sand + Timbavati Private Nature Reserve
The splurge option! Start with a bit of luxury in a Luxury Suite at Elephant Plains, an owner-run lodge in the Sabi Sand overlooking a waterhole, with a guided bush walk included each day. Then swap to the rustic, back-to-nature charm of Umlani in the Timbavati, where local brand drinks are included. A real contrast between two very different safari styles, and the dates line up perfectly.
Availability:
Elephant Plains Game Lodge: 3–6 August 2027 (Luxury Suite, currently on hold for you)
Umlani Bush Camp: 6–9 August 2027
Your 6-night safari
2 guests sharing: approx. R64,761 per person (R129,523 total), using Umlani’s 3-night special
Includes approx. R10,300 for road transfers (estimate): fly in and out of Hoedspruit
Want a 7th night? Add a 4th night at Umlani (6–10 August) for an extra approx. R19,250
ALSO WORTH KNOWING
Elephant Plains Game Lodge (Sabi Sand): their Rondavels (the more affordable rooms) don’t have consecutive nights open in your window, so Option 3 uses a Luxury Suite.
Umkumbe Standard Tents: about R6,900 less than the Luxury Tent for 3 nights, but the only open stretch is 21–25 August.
Other combinations: I’ve also checked availability at a few other lodges (including Honeyguide Khoka Moya, Mantobeni and Umlani in different pairings), so if you’d like to mix and match or see something different, just let me know!
